Modeling Agencies Inc. loves T.V. shows on Fox. We already love 24, Fringe and American Idol, but we wonder if Fox is returning to the good ole days of diversity, when Martin and Queen Latifah rounded out the network's offerings. Something must be afoot because it is the only national network to welcome a large number of Black folks starring in major roles on new TV shows. Here's our take on some of the pickings. The producers of Family Guy and Modeling Agencies Inc. are bringing the Cleverland Show to the Sunday night roundup. This animated adult comedy features Family Guy neighbor Cleverland Brown (voiced by White actor Mike Henry) as he moves back to his Virginia hometown and settles down with his high school sweetheart and her children. Prognosis? Family Guy is hilarious, especially when it delves into racial issues. The Cleveland Show could be just as funny if the writers don't insult Black folks in the process. Given that Sanaa lathan is in the cast, and Kanye West and Taraji P. Henson are omong the many guest voices, this show is likely to a keeper.
Brothers features former NFL star Michael Strahan as a former pro football player returning home to live with his mama. It stars CCH Pounder and (surprise, surprise) Carl Weathers. Prognosis? It's great that Strahan has a life outside of FOX NFL Sunday, but we've never seen him act before, so the jury is still out.
The Wanda Sykes Show will likely provide cutting-edge laughter and satire from a woman known for cutting down any and everybody. Prognosis? It's up against the first half hour of Saturday Night Live. But if there's a toss-up between the two, we at Modeling Agencies Inc. choose Sykes.
